PJ Benson

Since 1989 Pete Benson has been involved in music in some form, often with long time friend and collaborator Rob McCormack. Pete (bass, keyboards) was in many evolving bands with Rob (guitar, vocals), eventually forming HowManyDevils with the addition of Simon Jeffries (vocals, guitar) and drummers (various). After HowManyDevils Pete joined covers band In The Red. Throughout his career Pete has worked as PJ Benson – allowing him to produce material without the constraints of fitting the format of the band, Outwerks – a project to create instrumental music to accompany film and video , and also an on and off collaboration with Dave Rieuwerts called Widescreen Set. In 2011 Pete has completed the PJ Benson album Closure, collaborated with Rob again in Sadistic Chicken, and joined HowManyDevils for their 13th anniversary reformation. Pete is currently working on two new PJ Benson albums and remixing tracks for Destruction Junkie. Death is a frequent topic in PJ Benson material, by explanation Pete says “I do seem to write a lot about death!! Not that I want to die, it's just a way of releasing my fears of death by joking about it”. Several PJ Benson songs have been released by other artists: Hotel Last Resort, World Attack, and Tortured Soul are on The Missing by Destruction Junkie, World Attack was a key part of the HowManyDevils live set, and of course Pete co-wrote Sadistic Chicken Massacre. PJ Benson is based in Sheffield. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
