Pop singer/songwriter Michelle Barone is ready to bring a big dance party to her native city The release of “Dramatica,” Barone’s new album consists of 12 high-energy songs. Her music video for “O Na Na Na” has also inspired many. Feel free to watch it and get a feel for her music at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYhBtPscoig “My first album (“Believe In Me”) was more R&B-based, so I wanted this album to make people move,” Barone said about her latest CD. After almost 12 years of opera training, the 25-year-old Poughkeepsie native began singing pop music three years ago. She said she hopes to one day work with music producer Timbaland, whom she met on three occasions. She collaborates with drummer Chris Puletz and DJs Klaim (Dwyght Simpson) and Kazz (Armando Aviles), all of whom are from the Hudson Valley. DJ Rayza (Ray Berrios), who hosts KISS-FM’s (96.1 FM) “Traffic Jam” along with Chris Marino, said the radio station has been playing Barone’s single “O Na Na Na” throughout the month. Rayza said Barone’s older songs were well received by listeners and her “feel-good music” has a “great vibe.” He said her latest effort was “the hottest thing to come across the table,” garnering a spot on the station’s new music list. “(Her music) could wake somebody out of a coma,” said producer Ramello Haze of Peekskill, who met Barone after her first album, “Believe In Me,” was released in 2007. He said he enjoys watching the audience’s positive reaction when he spins her songs. Barone’s music is based on real-life experiences, which she said she tries to turn into catchy hooks. “While promoting my last album, I realized that all I really want when I perform is for everybody to dance. ‘Everybody Dance’ is a great song to perform, and the crowd really loves it. It tells you to stomp your feet and get up and get down. People really play into it, especially when my partner Squeeky Plus’ voice comes on.” DJ Klaim said Barone’s “catchy” music is meant specifically for the younger “house/techno crowd.” Barone does the majority of songwriting, as well as collaborations with Haze and other artists featured on “Dramatica.” She said she enjoys the writing collaborations “because different types of people have different perspectives on ways to write and captivate an audience.” Read more on Last.fm.
