Dubska

Dubska, a band formed in Bydgoszcz, Poland in 1999, is at the moment believed to be one of the best known reggae bands in Poland. They have so far released 5 albums, 3 of which were recorded at their own expense and 2 were officially published by Mami Records. The band's first official record, titled simply DUBSKA, was released in 2005. Both the critic's and the public's reaction to this album was quite positive. The band's most significant virtues are: characteristic style, two equal vocalists, splendid rhythm section as well as impressive wind section. Thanks to them the band is welcomed during concerts with open arms and is classified among the best reggae formations in Poland. "Free Colours", a reggae quarterly, placed in its second number the results of a plebiscite which sums up the year of 2005 concerning reggae stage in Poland and abroad. As a phonographic debut, Dubska band is listed among the finalists of three categories: - "The best Polish album", - "The greatest Polish hope in music", - "The best Polish album debut". At that time Dubska became very active as far as the concerts are concerned. The band took part in the majority of reggae festivals in Poland such as: "Africa", in Toruń, "Ostróda Reggae Festival", "Winter Reggae" in Gliwice, "Gorzyce Reggae Festival", "Nie Zabijaj (Don't Kill)" in Oleśno, "Reggae na Piaskach" in Ostrów Wielkopolski, "Reggae nad Warta" in Gorzów Wielkopolski and, above all, Woodstock in Kostrzyn nad Odra. Dubska also played concerts in Germany and Greece. The band's new album, Avokado, occured on the 9th of November, 2006 at Mami Records, expense. It contains 11 premiere reggae numbers which are organised in a manner very characteristic for Dubska. Promoting the new album, the song Avokado, as well as well-known from the concerts J.L.Hooker's Blues, with Michał Kielak(harmonica)participating as a guest, are among the above mentioned numbers. What is more, Ile mil(How many miles), the band Izrael's song, is an extra surprise on the album.The album Avokado, met with even better reception from the critics and people. In November, Dubska played several concerts all over Poland which were the part of "Avokado Tour" promoting the album. Avokado got a great number of flattering reviews. The band again was listed among the finalists of 3 categories of "Free Colours" which summed up the reggae stage in Poland and abroad in 2006.
