The Augsburger Puppenkiste is a marionette theater in Augsburg, Germany. The Premiere of their first ever show was the fairy tale "Der gestiefelte Kater" (the Puss in Boots). It became famous throughout Germany from 1953, when its productions where filmed and broadcasted on television. Regularly, a new fairy tale was produced for television to be shown in Advent Season. The most well known stars of the Puppenkiste are Jim Knopf (1961/62, 1976/77) and Urmel (1969/74). Today, programs of the Augsburgian Puppenkiste are still broadcasted on television, mainly as special features. Their "performances" are regularly sold out - even for the weeks to follow.
